Accessibility

What has been done

• Semantic HTML throughout, with a logical heading hierarchy on every page.
• A skip-to-content link, visible focus indicators, and full keyboard operation including the mobile menu and every tool.
• Form controls with associated labels and descriptions; results announced politely to screen readers when they appear.
• Colour is never the only carrier of meaning; contrast has been chosen against the AA threshold in both light and dark schemes.
• Text scales without loss of content; layouts reflow to narrow viewports without horizontal scrolling.
• Reduced-motion preferences are respected — there is very little motion to begin with.
• Every image carries alt text describing it, and a visible caption giving its source. The two diagrams are also described in the prose around them, so nothing depends on seeing them.
• Print styles are provided so tool summaries print legibly.

Known limitations

• The site has been checked by manual keyboard and structural review, not yet by a full audit with assistive technology across browsers.
• The Narrative Landscape Mapper generates long forms; on small screens these involve substantial scrolling.
• Four of the seven images carry a credit reading “source to be confirmed”. They are shown because they are useful, and the caption says plainly that the source is not yet settled.
